Tovaana
Genesis;
The summer sun beat mercilessly overhead as the purple and grey-blue female stalked back and forth across the border of the Mossy Heights territory. Her hind legs, harshly marked with opposing lightning-slashes, rippled with frustration. This had not been what Genesis had signed up for when she had agreed to join Anubis' pack. It was a new pack, fresh--she had thought it was the perfect opportunity for a fresh start (despite some misgivings deep within her mind). But now the so-called Alpha had more or less vanished, and there Genesis sat patrolling the border. She wasn't even sure why she was doing it. Loyalty, for one--but loyalty to who?
Herself.
But it didn't mean she was enjoying it.
Yellow eyes flashed in mute annoyance as she made what must have been her hundredth circle around the land. Her tongue lolled as the sun continued to pound against her back, but the air she was taking in was warm and provided no real relief from the heat. A dark purple tail lashed behind her.
Angry was the wrong word to describe what she was feeling. When Genesis was truly angry it was a mighty thing to behold. But she was not happy, either. To her knowledge there were no other pack mates, and it felt an awful lot like she was part of nothing. She cursed Anubis, as well as all of the strange and unrealized tension that he made her feel, under her breath. Why the gods had chosen him remained a mystery--and why she had agreed to join him remained stranger still.
Genesis was not totally unfamiliar to pack life; she had lead one, after all. She had been unrivaled in her command, and had ruled with an iron paw. But it had ended, as all things eventually do. It had been her decision to end it, when it all came down to it. Some things were not meant to be repeated--
A snort left her nostrils as her thoughts dared to stray too far. She did not permit herself to dwell on such things.
So... Ivory Dawn, was it? She cast her eyes behind her once more into the depths of the territory. It was not an unhealthy land. A tilt of her head. She figured it could even be quite prosperous if the right creatures came along to join it. But with an absent Alpha, it was doomed. There was no doubt to that.
Genesis sighed to herself, unsure of where her thoughts had landed, but finally getting tired of the circles and coming to a stop.
