Gather 'round boys and girls - it's story time!

Just for as little time as I have to flesh out characters and new threads, I'd still like to keep in touch with y'all, and honestly some of the nonsense that happens to me is just too funny to not share, so here we are. Also, please do share this same brand of paperclip mania that's happening with you guys, even simple, mundane things that went differently than expected are fun to read about.

Anyways, according to tradition, I shall start:

Gonna go low-key so there's no pressure for it to be amazing when you guys share.

So, at my work, we do these handspun shakes, and every month or two, we have a new featured shake of the month. For New year's we had rootbeer, for Christmas there was candycane and eggnog, Thanksgiving was pumpkin (Thanksgiving was when I discovered my one true love of pumpkin manifest as frigidly cold ice cream and I almost died of shivery happiness). Well, for Valentines and Saint Patrick's we have this green mint-chocolate chip (I guess mint is romantic, IDK) and we call them Shamrock shakes. Well, the mint chocolate chip ice cream we use to make the shakes is hard as rocks down in the carton, and one of my coworkers was kinda complaining about it, and me being the rather socially awkward young woman I am that knows way too many dad-jokes, proceeded to make the worst pun of my mortal career:

Coworker 1: "Man, this stuff is hard as a rock,"

Fier - with absolutely no cognitive thought: "That's why it's called a sham-rock,"

Coworker 2: "..."

Coworker 1: "..."

The ice cream: "..."

My boss watching on the security camera: "..."

Fier - beginning to realize what treason I have just committed: "...Oh my gerbils, I am so sorry..."

Coworker 2 - about the same time I start to apologize: "That was actually pretty good,"

Coworker 1: "Fier, nice."

Fier: "Oh my gosh guys, I am so sorry, that was - what the heck was that? I am-"

Coworker 2: "No, own it,"

So yeah, all such random crap dump right here. Pull up a chair, a mug of chocolate or glass of lemonade...maybe some ice cream, let's tell some funny stupid stuff

Hahah that's so great We have shamrock shakes here, too, but I've never tried one. I don't know that it's mint, I think it's like... green... flavour? If that could really be considered a flavour? Maybe melon or something? I don't know, they never smell good bahaha.

So, the scene is at the local pub where we go to play trivia and have some beers once a week. There is only ONE decent server there. All the other ones are awful and we have to remind them we ordered food, drinks, etc. Except for this one. And she always gets it right, jokes with us, gives us trivia answers because our team is brutally terrible, that sort of thing.
So we walk in the other night, and of course the servers are all there at the door because I think if they can seat us in their section, they get to serve us. So we walk in, and I accidentally make eye contact with the one who ISN'T our server. I panic as she says hello, and instead of being a normal person, I just yell "NO NO," and look around frantically until I see our server. She laughs and says "Hi Meds, the usual?" And then I exhaled in embarrassingly-obvious relief.
But to make it worse, I wasn't even drinking that night, so then AFTER ALL OF THAT, I had to be like "No, just water for me tonight,"

So here's a pretty classic Fier-derp I think y'all might enjoy.

My family and I took a little trip to the coast (I live roughly 14 hours from the coast, it was amazing to go), but on the last day I came down sick and so everyone was nice to me and stayed home with me and I basically died on the return trip. I felt like crap for two more days before I let my awesome Ma take me to the doctor, and they found out that I done rekt. I had not one, not two, but three infections, one in my sinuses and one in each ear. And one of the ear infections made my eardrum burst, so yeah, classic dumb stuff I pull. I was the only one to come down sick, and I'm not recovering as fast as the doctor expected for my rebound and recovery history of other sicknesses, but the hole in my eardrum healed itself and we're really just waiting on my hearing to come back, but other than that, I'm fine, I feel good again. Just thought you'd all enjoy a big ol' derp story to explain my absences of late. Well, that, and Muse has broken up with me and I'm only now starting to get enough to scrape some crap posts together.

YIKES, but your hearing WILL come back? At least it's only in one ear but still! That must be really tough!! You don't need ears to Rp at Blisswood though, so perfect! Bahahaha.

Also though, this thread reminded me of a funny thing that happened yesterday.

So I'm at the gym, and I'm doing shoulder presses (basically sitting and lifting the dumbells above my head). The pair of 25 lb weights turned out to be too easy, so I hopped back over to the shelves to get the 30s. Now, while I was doing this there was also a guy working out beside me. He was a big guy, tall, big muscles etc.
Well when I went to grab the 30s (which is not super heavy but 30 in each hand, I'm proud!), they were warm, which means somebody else was just using them. So I turn and hold them up to the guy, because I didn't want to steal his weights.
"Oh were these yours?" I ask, trying to be helpful. And he looks down at all 5'2" of me and gets clearly flustered and he's like, "No!" Hahahaha I embarrassed him and then felt bad xD

My hearing WILL come back, it's already much improved from when I first got the infections. I think I just need to finish this current prescription and I should be set.

I feel like you met a hooman Acribus on his turf and embarrassed him and putting you as WWM version Koa makes it twenty times funnier. XD

A real quick one. To go the extra mile, I'm supposed to ask my customers: "And is there anything else I can get for you guys tonight?" before I leave them alone to go take care of the other customers, and I recently got the response: "Yes, the number to the winning lotto ticket." and darn if my hearing wasn't still fuzzy and my wits were out of practice because I so wish I could have come up with something cute and snappy back! To no avail, but never shall he ever get any lotto number suggestions from moi

HA that's so awesome! I love being compared to Koa. I will take it! I originally made Rayen (back then) to be like Koa turned out, but after meeting Leo and having the pups... well, you know

Two more stories!

At the restaurant I work at, we have recently added for a limited time some Wisconsin cheese curds. I don't know how it is for the rest of y'all, but in my neck of the woods, any dairy product from Wisconsin and especially cheese becomes a highly coveted good, and my awesome da about flipped his lid when I came home and told him. So he came by and ordered some as I was clocking in the next day. Da places his order, and my store manager sends it back to the kitchen by way of a microphone-intercom system to amplify the sound because it gets loud back there.

Da: "Just an order of cheese curds please."

Store Manager: (into the Amplifying Mic/Intercom system) "Cheese turds"

The clock: -.-

Da: ?.?

Store Manager: O.O ... >.<

I hadn't seen my dad laugh so hard in a long time, and I just told her today that it was my dad. I've never seen her blush, but this is probably about the closest I'll ever get. Da had just had a long, hard day at work and it was the release he needed, and Store Manager thought it was funny too, even though she was a bit mortified with herself.

Ya gurl loves her Halloween season, and I'm going to miss it the next few years as I go abroad to where they celebrate All Saints Day instead of All Hallows Eve, so I decided to squander my time in spoopy E.A. Poe literature and Agatha Christie plays early.

I just got my gorgeous, dark, ghoulish, macabre Halloween playlist assembled and in the order I wanted, and I clicked to save it...

And guys, the computer shuffled the order of my songs a n d added some of my lively, upbeat Celtic-and-Gaelic-folk-songs-to-save-til-five-a.m.-the-morning-after-an-evening-wedding-for-the-hardcore-peeps-to-jam-out-to to the mix. (If you're curious: Téir abhaile 'riú, Níl Sé'n Lá, the Rattlin' Bog, etc. etc.)

And abroad, ooo, sounds amazing! Where are you going? To visit family?
Also I love the way you talk about your close-family. You all sound so connected and close and nice and adorable. Also Poe is my favourite poet! Not hard to do, as his is basically the only poetry I care for (;
